About these terms #
These Rider Terms of Use supplement the Platform Terms of Use and apply when you use Ride as a rider. This document is being finalized for Ride's public launch and is not yet legally effective.
Rider eligibility #
Rider accounts are for adults. You must meet the minimum age in the Platform Terms and hold your own account. Ride does not offer a product for unaccompanied minors; a minor may only travel with an accompanying adult account holder.
You may request a trip for another eligible adult — for example, a family member — if you take responsibility for the trip, the fare, and the passenger's compliance with these terms. Guest pickup features may share limited trip information (such as a pickup PIN) with the phone number you provide for the guest.
Pickup and destination accuracy #
Provide accurate pickup and destination information and be ready at the pickup location. Incorrect pickup details can lead to cancellation or no-show outcomes under the Fare, Payment, Cancellation, Refund, and Adjustment Policy.
Fares and estimates #
Before you confirm a trip, Ride shows a fare estimate or the method used to calculate the fare. The final fare can differ from the estimate when the trip changes — for example, added stops, route changes you request, waiting time where applicable, tolls, or taxes and required fees. The Fare, Payment, Cancellation, Refund, and Adjustment Policy explains fare components, adjustments, and refunds.
Ride does not publish specific fee amounts in this document. Applicable amounts are shown in the app before you confirm actions that carry a charge.
Payment authorization #
- You must keep a valid payment method on file to request trips.
- You authorize Ride's contracted payment processor to place authorization holds and charge your payment method for fares, tolls, taxes, fees, adjustments, and tips you add.
- You are responsible for charges incurred under your account, including trips you request for a guest.
- If a payment fails, Ride may retry the charge, restrict new trips until the balance is resolved, or cancel an unstarted trip.
Cancellations and no-shows #
You can cancel a trip in the app. A cancellation or no-show charge may apply when a driver has already committed time and distance — for example, after a driver accepts or arrives and you cancel late or do not appear. Any such charge is shown in the app before or at the time it applies. Amounts are set in product configuration, not this document.
Refunds and charge disputes #
If you believe a charge is wrong, contact support with the trip details. Ride reviews refund requests case by case and may issue a full, partial, or no refund depending on what happened. Filing a card chargeback for a legitimate charge may lead to account restrictions while the dispute is investigated.
Damage and cleaning charges #
If you or your guest damages a driver's vehicle or causes a mess requiring professional cleaning, Ride may charge your payment method under the Damage and Cleaning Fee Policy after reviewing evidence.
Rider conduct #
- Treat drivers and other passengers with respect. Harassment and discrimination are prohibited.
- Wear your seatbelt. Everyone in the vehicle must have a seatbelt available.
- Do not exceed the vehicle's lawful passenger capacity.
- Children who require a child restraint under applicable law may only ride with an appropriate child seat, which you are responsible for providing and installing.
- Do not bring unlawful items or engage in unlawful activity during a trip.
- No open containers of alcohol where prohibited by law.
- Do not touch, threaten, or interfere with the driver or vehicle controls.
Service animals and mobility devices #
Riders with service animals ride with them — no extra fee and no documentation demands. Drivers must accommodate foldable wheelchairs and other mobility devices that can be safely stored. See the Service Animal Policy and the Wheelchair and Mobility Device Policy.
Personal property and lost items #
You are responsible for your belongings. If you leave something behind, use the Lost Items and Personal Property Policy process. Ride can help connect you with the driver but cannot guarantee recovery.
Trip communications #
During and around a trip, the Platform provides in-app messaging and related contact tools so you and the driver can coordinate. Use them only for trip coordination. Contact information you see through the Platform may be masked or limited.
Safety reports and emergencies #
If anyone is in immediate danger or needs urgent medical, police, or fire assistance, call 911 first. Ride's in-app safety tools and web reporting form are not an emergency service.
For non-emergency safety concerns, use the in-app safety tools or the safety report form at ridebylamar.com/safety/report. See the Safety Incident and Emergency Reporting Policy.
Ratings and feedback #
You may rate drivers and provide feedback after trips. Ratings must be honest and must not be used to harass or retaliate. Ride may act on patterns of abusive or discriminatory ratings.
Account suspension #
Ride may restrict or suspend rider access for safety incidents, fraud, unpaid balances, policy violations, or legal reasons, following the Account Suspension, Deactivation, and Appeal Policy.
No off-platform arrangements #
Do not arrange paid rides outside the Platform with drivers you met through Ride. Off-platform trips lack the Platform's payment protections, records, and safety features.
Availability #
Ride does not guarantee that a driver will be available for any request or that a driver will arrive by any particular time. Estimates are estimates.
