Our approach #
Ride values both user privacy and public safety. Ride discloses user information to government agencies only in response to valid legal process or in the emergency circumstances described below, and reviews every request before responding.
Requirements for requests #
- Requests must comply with applicable law and be issued through valid legal process (for example, subpoena, court order, or search warrant appropriate to the data sought).
- Requests must come from an official agency channel and identify the requesting agency, the officer or agent, and a verifiable official contact.
- Requests must be narrowly tailored: identify the specific account (name, phone, or email on the account) or trip (date, time, and location) and the specific data categories sought, with a bounded time range.
- Overbroad or vague requests may be challenged or narrowed where appropriate.
Emergency requests #
Where Ride believes in good faith that disclosure is necessary to prevent death or serious physical harm, Ride may disclose limited information without legal process, consistent with applicable law. Emergency requests must state the nature of the emergency and why it involves imminent harm, and must come from an official agency contact.
Preservation requests #
Agencies may request preservation of specified records pending legal process, consistent with applicable law. Preservation requests should identify the account or trip and the records to preserve.
User notice #
Ride's policy is to notify users of requests for their information when legally allowed and appropriate, unless notice would create risk of harm or is prohibited by law or court order.
International requests #
Ride operates in the United States. Requests from non-U.S. authorities should proceed through applicable mutual legal assistance mechanisms.
How to submit #
Submit requests from an official agency email address to support@ridebylamar.com with "Law Enforcement Request" in the subject, or call (561) 542-7560 to coordinate delivery. Do not submit sensitive legal documents through public website forms. Ride does not operate a public upload portal for legal requests.
