Program description #
Ride sends service-related text messages to the mobile number on your account. Ride may use contracted communications and identity-service providers to deliver verification and service-related messages; the specific providers may change and are engaged under contracts limiting their use of your number.
Message types #
- Verification messages: one-time codes to verify your phone number or sign-in.
- Trip messages: pickup coordination, trip status, and — for guest trips — a pickup PIN sent to the guest number the requester provides.
- Safety messages: notices connected to safety features or investigations involving your account.
- Driver onboarding messages: application and document status for driver applicants.
- Marketing messages: only if you separately opt in. Marketing consent is never a condition of using the platform or purchasing unrelated services.
Frequency, rates, and carriers #
- Message frequency varies with your account activity.
- Message and data rates may apply, charged by your carrier.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
STOP and HELP #
- Reply STOP to a marketing message to opt out of marketing texts. The opt-out is honored across Ride's marketing programs.

- Opting out of marketing does not stop essential transactional messages — verification codes, trip coordination, and account-security notices continue while you use the platform, because the service cannot operate safely without them. To stop all messages, remove your number or close your account (some verification steps require a working number).
How your number is handled #
Your mobile number is used for verification, trip and account messaging, and safety features, as described in the Privacy Policy. Ride does not sell your number, and does not share SMS consent or opt-in data with third parties for their own unrelated marketing.
Not an emergency service #
SMS is not a way to reach emergency help. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 911.
