Overview
This SMS Privacy Policy explains how RIDE, operated by Lamar Technology LLC, sends text messages and handles information related to those messages. RIDE delivers SMS through a third-party messaging provider (such as Twilio) to support account security, trips, and service communications. This policy works alongside our main Privacy Policy.
Transactional Messages
Most RIDE text messages are transactional and tied directly to your account and activity. These are not promotional and are sent so the platform can function safely and reliably.
- One-time verification codes used to confirm your mobile number
- Driver and rider account updates, such as approval, verification, or status changes
- Ride and trip notifications, such as driver assignment, arrival, or trip status
- Safety and support messages related to your account or a trip
Verification Codes
When you sign up or add or change your phone number, RIDE may send a one-time passcode by SMS to confirm the number belongs to you. Verification codes are time-limited and should never be shared with anyone. RIDE will not ask you to forward a verification code to another person.
Account and Trip Notifications
Drivers and riders may receive text messages about account status, onboarding progress, and the status of an active or recent ride. These messages help keep you informed about time-sensitive activity and are part of providing the service.
Marketing Messages
RIDE sends marketing or promotional SMS only if you have separately opted in to receive them, where required by law. Opting out of marketing messages does not stop transactional or safety messages that are necessary to operate your account.
Opt-Out and Help
Where applicable, you can reply STOP to opt out of further messages in that program, and reply HELP for help. Opting out of verification or account messages may prevent you from completing phone verification or using features that require a verified number. You can also contact support@ridebylamar.com for assistance.
Message Frequency and Rates
Message frequency varies based on your account activity and the number of verification or trip events you trigger. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. RIDE is not responsible for carrier charges.
Not an Emergency Service
SMS is not an emergency service. Do not rely on text messaging to report an emergency or request urgent help. If you are in danger, involved in an accident, or experiencing a medical or other urgent emergency, call 911 or your local emergency services immediately.
Your Mobile Number and Privacy
RIDE does not sell your mobile number or your SMS consent to third parties for their own marketing. Your number is shared with our messaging provider only to deliver the messages described in this policy. For more detail on how RIDE handles personal information, see our Privacy Policy.
