About this notice #
This notice supplements the Privacy Policy for drivers and driver applicants. It lists the driver-specific information Ride collects, why, and what riders can see about you.
Application and onboarding information #
- Legal name, date of birth, phone, email, and home address.
- Driver license number and license photographs (front and back).
- Vehicle details: make, model, year, color, license plate, and state.
- Vehicle registration and proof-of-insurance documents.
- Profile photograph shown to riders.
- Verification selfies captured at onboarding and, where enabled, before going online, used to confirm the account holder is the approved driver. Today these photographs are reviewed without biometric template processing — see the Identity Verification and Biometric Data Notice.
- Background-check information: Ride initiates a screening invitation with a contracted screening provider using your name and contact details; the provider collects the remaining information it needs (which may include your Social Security number) directly from you in its own flow. Ride receives status and eligibility results. Separate FCRA disclosure and authorization forms govern this — they are never merged into general terms.
Information collected while you drive #
- Location while online: foreground device location heartbeats while you are online or on a trip, used to offer trips, show your arrival to the rider, and maintain trip records. Ride does not collect background location when you are offline or the app is closed.
- Trip offers, acceptances, rejections, and cancellations.
- Trip records: routes, times, distances, and fares.
- Earnings, payouts, and payout-account status with our payment processor (bank details are entered directly with the processor, not stored by Ride).
- Ratings, rider reports, safety incidents, and fraud signals relating to your account.
- Device data: device model, OS, app version, push token, and an app-generated device identifier used for account security (including single-active-device enforcement).
- Support communications and records of any deactivation and appeal.
- Online-time records used for driving-time limits and, where required, regulatory records of when you log on and off.
What Ride does not collect from drivers #
- No background ("always on") location.
- No device-motion or driving-behavior telematics scoring.
- No biometric identifiers or templates (see the Identity Verification and Biometric Data Notice).
- No dashcam integration; optional in-app trip recording stays on your device.
What riders can see about you #
- Your first name and profile photograph.
- Your vehicle make, model, and color where available, and license plate.
- Your live location during pickup and the trip.
- Your rating, where implemented.
How driver information is used and shared #
Driver information is used for eligibility and verification, trip operations, payments and payouts, safety and fraud prevention, support, and legal compliance — including transportation-network-company driver-record requirements. Sharing follows the Privacy Policy: contracted service providers (payment, screening, mapping, communications, hosting), insurers and claims parties for accidents, and valid legal process.
Retention and deletion #
Driver records carry regulatory retention obligations that survive account deletion. The Account Deletion and Data Rights document and the Privacy Policy's retention section explain what is deleted and what must be kept. Exact period-level detail will be published once the retention schedule is verified with counsel.
