Read this before you drive #
Rideshare driving changes how insurance applies to your vehicle. This disclosure explains the structure. It intentionally does not state insurer names, policy numbers, or coverage limits, because Ride will publish those only from a bound, verified insurance policy. Until that verification is complete, this document remains in pre-launch status and drivers cannot be activated.
Your personal policy may exclude rideshare driving #
Most personal auto policies exclude commercial activity, which can include driving for a rideshare platform. That means your personal policy may not cover an accident that happens while you are logged into a driver app. Talk to your insurer about rideshare use of your vehicle, and consider a rideshare endorsement.
Coverage depends on what you were doing #
Applicable coverage requirements differ across four periods:
- Offline: your personal insurance applies as usual.
- Online and waiting for a request: rideshare-specific coverage requirements apply under Florida law.
- En route to a pickup: prearranged-ride coverage requirements apply.
- Transporting a rider: prearranged-ride coverage requirements apply until the rider exits.
Your obligations #
- Maintain your own valid personal auto insurance meeting Florida requirements at all times.
- Carry proof of applicable coverage in the vehicle (physical or electronic) while driving on the platform.
- After an accident, exchange required information, provide applicable insurance information to involved parties and responding officers, and report the accident to Ride.
- When reporting, accurately state whether you were offline, online and waiting, en route to a pickup, or transporting a rider — the answer determines which coverage applies.
- Cooperate with insurers and claims administrators handling any claim.
Ride-provided coverage #
Any coverage Ride provides or arranges during online or trip periods will be described here — insurer, policy type, coverage periods, limits, deductibles, and claims contact — exactly as stated in the bound policy, once it is verified. No coverage description appears until then, and nothing in this pre-launch document is a promise of coverage.
